On the third night of our 12-day self-driving trip through Hakone, Lake Kawaguchi, and Hokkaido, we stayed at Toyoko INN Fuji Kawaguchiko Ohashi. The hotel is a bit far from the train station, but there’s a shuttle bus available. After dinner, we walked to Kawaguchiko Station and waited for the Toyoko INN shuttle bus to take us back to the hotel.

There are several parking lots near the hotel, including a multi-story one. We parked our rental car in the lot by the roadside — it was just a short walk to the lobby with our luggage, which was quite convenient.

After checking in, we walked to Beef Cutlet Restaurant koushuya, a restaurant specializing in beef cutlets, for dinner. Before eating, we took a few photos of the hotel’s exterior.

After dinner, we did some laundry in the hotel’s laundry room. Since our family only brought about seven days’ worth of clothes, we needed to wash them to have clean clothes for the rest of the trip. One of the best things about staying at Toyoko INN hotels is how convenient it is to do laundry — many travelers love this feature.

After a good night’s sleep, we woke up and had breakfast. The hotel has two buildings: Building A serves Japanese-style breakfast, and Building B serves Western-style breakfast. I prefer Western food, so my tray was filled with bread, salad, and vegetables, along with carrot juice and Yamanashi’s local specialty jelly.

My family, who got Japanese-style meals from Building A, brought their trays to Building B to eat together. Their meals had more meat and variety, including seaweed. Both styles were delicious — you can enjoy whichever you prefer, as long as you have room to eat. It was a great breakfast overall.
