After ORIX Rent-A-Car picked up our family and took us to its Akita Airport branch, we completed the rental procedures and got ready to drive from Akita Airport to Mizusawa Park. Along the way, we stopped for a break at Michi-no-Eki Kinshuko (道の駅錦秋湖), a roadside station in Iwate Prefecture.

Our rental car was a mint-green Honda Freed. It was just the right size for three people and five pieces of luggage. After driving for a little over an hour, we arrived at Michi-no-Eki Kinshuko. We first stopped to use the restroom before heading inside to see what food was available at the roadside station.

Ordering Food and Having Tea at Michi-no-Eki Kinshuko

We hadn’t ordered any in-flight meals on our Tigerair Taiwan flight, so we hadn’t eaten lunch yet. The roadside station offered a variety of popular set meals and ramen dishes. After placing our orders and receiving our meal tickets, we waited for our numbers to be called and poured ourselves some tea while taking a break.

When our number was called, we took our meal tickets to collect our food. The restaurant’s oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and udon noodles were delicious, and the three of us finished our meals in no time.

The three of us also enjoyed double-layer curry rice with Shirogane pork and a fried chicken set meal. After a satisfying lunch, we were ready to continue our journey to see the cherry blossoms.

When we stepped outside and looked at the scenery from the parking area beside Michi-no-Eki Kinshuko, we were amazed by the magnificent views. Iwate Prefecture in Japan is truly a wonderful place to appreciate beautiful landscapes!
