At RESTAURANT ASADOR CarneSio, we enjoyed delicious cream puffs and charcoal-grilled Wagyu beef



Last year, a new restaurant called RESTAURANT ASADOR CarneSio opened in Kawaguchiko. A friend had already dined here, and since it’s not yet a common spot for Taiwanese visitors, we decided to give it a try. We made an online reservation a week in advance and came here for lunch on the third day of our self-drive trip. After enjoying milk soft-serve ice cream at the Roadside Station Asagiri Kogen , the timing was just right for our reservation.

The restaurant was quite busy. Only after the guests at the next table had finished lunch and left were we able to take some photos of the seating area. Once we placed our business lunch order, the restaurant’s super popular house-made cream puff was immediately served.

The cream puff looked more like a rustic piece of bread, with a unique and irregular shape. When torn open, the inside was soft and fluffy, paired with a special butter-and-maple-syrup-like spread. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—it was unbelievably delicious, unlike any cream puff we had ever tried.

Soon after, an appetizer of octopus drizzled with lemon juice arrived, bringing out the fresh seafood flavors. Then came the main course: perfectly grilled Wagyu steak, tender and full of flavor. The doneness was just right. We also tried two kinds of pasta—minced beef spaghetti and tomato-beef pasta—both of which were very tasty.

The charcoal-grilled tender Wagyu fillet, served with sauce and cracked pepper, was especially memorable. Cutting it into small bites and savoring it slowly allowed the full richness of the beef to unfold in the mouth.

For dessert, we had cranberry ice cream cheesecake, accompanied by iced coffee and iced green tea—a perfect finish to the business lunch. Since it was too hot earlier at noon, we hadn’t taken photos of the restaurant’s exterior before entering. By the time we left, the parking lot had fewer cars, so we finally had a chance to take some good shots. Next time we visit Lake Kawaguchi, we’ll definitely come back to dine here again.
