On the second day, we had a delicious sushi dinner at Hama Sushi Mishima Chuocho branch

On the second night of our 12-day self-driving trip around Hakone, Kawaguchiko, and Hokkaido, we had dinner at Hama Sushi Mishima Chuocho. After a full day of sightseeing, we felt a bit tired, mainly because we woke up too early and didn’t get enough sleep. It took us about an hour to drive from Mishima Skywalk to the Chuocho branch. We arrived before it got dark, but since it was already dinner time, we went in.

Fortunately, parking was convenient — we parked in the 1st-floor parking lot, so the car was no longer exposed to the sun. We then walked up to the 2nd floor for the restaurant. On weekdays, the opening hours are from 11:00 AM to midnight, which is quite long. At the entrance, the billboard featured actress Haruna Kawaguchi (川口春奈).

After being seated, we started ordering via the tablet. There were many different types of soy sauce available, and we could also make our own matcha by adding hot water to matcha powder. The first dishes we ordered were tuna and seared sushi.

We also enjoyed plenty of gunkan sushi, such as the negitoro (green onion and tuna) gunkan, as well as a “three-in-one” salmon set: salmon steak, fatty salmon, and salmon sushi.

Our family really likes these “three-in-one” sushi sets. We tried the three-shrimp platter (shrimp, sweet shrimp, raw shrimp) and the three-tuna platter (tuna, bonito albacore, and bonito chunks).

We also ordered some of the more unique and seasonal items, such as flounder fin sushi.

↑ We had so many plates, but still ordered another gunkan sushi to try.

The tekka maki (tuna roll) and seared flounder fin sushi were also delicious. We always end up eating a lot of sushi, and this time one of the more unusual ones we tried was the crab miso gunkan. It’s something we rarely eat, so we gave it a try, but we didn’t really like it. After finishing many plates, we paid the bill and headed outside—only to find a long line of people waiting! Luckily, we had arrived early.😄😄😄
