In the evening, after taking the Otaru Canal cruise and enjoying a relaxing tour around the canal and harbor, it was already dark and time for dinner. As we walked across to the opposite side of the canal, we saw Otaru Masazushi Zenan. There was a line at the entrance on the second floor, so we joined the queue to get ready for sushi.

Dining at Otaru Masazushi Zenan is on the second floor. There are seats available near the entrance upstairs, so you don’t have to stand the whole time and your legs won’t get too tired. Luckily, after waiting about 20 minutes, it was our turn to go in.

Once inside, there were also seats available, so after sitting for about five minutes, a table became available and we were able to order. There is also a life-size character standee at the entrance for photos, which is a fun and unique feature.

There is a tablet on the table for ordering. Although most of the language is in Japanese, with the help of translation tools and pictures, we were able to understand it fairly well. We ordered a mixed Nigiri Set Sushi platter to try.

We also ordered a seafood rice bowl, which looked absolutely delicious—and it truly tasted great. When visiting the Otaru Port and Otaru Canal area, you definitely have to try a bowl of fresh seafood donburi.

Of course, we couldn’t miss tekka-don (tuna sashimi rice bowl), one of our family’s favorite types of sushi. After ordering these three dishes, it was just about enough, especially since we had already eaten quite a bit in the afternoon before boarding the Otaru Canal cruise, including kamaboko from Kamaei.
