As summer fades, the weather on Shodoshima is no longer as hot, making it the perfect time to enjoy the famous gelato from MINORI GELATO, an Italian gelato specialty shop. We drove from Shodoshima Olive Park and arrived at MINORI GELATO in about 5 minutes. Since the roads on Shodoshima are quite narrow, and the parking lot for this popular spot is a bit challenging to access, we waited a little before finding a spot.
After parking in the designated spaces at the back, we walked to the store entrance, where we saw the gelato menu. There are three cup sizes: a single flavor for 600 yen, two flavors for 700 yen, and three flavors for 800 yen. Some special flavors, like pistachio, require an additional charge of 150 yen.
Once we found seats inside, we went to place our orders. A signboard displayed the store’s business hours—open from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, serving only in the afternoon. There was also an introduction to the gelato-making process.
The three of us ordered two cups, each with three different flavors. One cup had Tomato Sorbet, Milk, and Sesame flavors, while the other featured the highly popular Soy Sauce Crumble, Blueberry Yogurt, and Milk Chocolate flavors.
Aside from what we ordered, we also checked out the gelato selection in the display case. They had flavors like green Pistachio and Fig gelato, with more than half of the flavors made from locally grown fruits on Shodoshima.
