Play on the thrilling zipline over 400 meters long at Mishima Skywalk

In the morning, we took the Hakone Ropeway and the Hakone Tozan Cable Car to enjoy the breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and the volcanic landscape of Owakudani. In the afternoon, our plan was to head to Mishima Skywalk to try the thrilling zipline. Ever since experiencing the Forest Adventure IYA VALLEY in Tokushima, Shikoku in 2024, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I definitely wanted to try this one too. I even brought along the gloves I bought back then, so I didn’t need to buy another pair here.

After parking the car, we went to the ticket counter to purchase admission tickets. There’s also a paid photo service with Mt. Fuji in the background, but unfortunately, in the afternoon the mountain was hidden under thick clouds, so no one was taking photos.

Mishima Skywalk is 400 meters long

The suspension bridge at Mishima Skywalk stretches 400 meters, surpassing the Kokonoe Yume Otsurihashi Bridge we visited in Kyushu back in 2019, making it the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Japan.

Walk across the Mishima Skywalk to the other side and get ready for the zipline

In the middle of the long bridge, staff members keep watch to make sure visitors behave safely. Once we crossed to the other side, we bought zipline tickets and got ready with helmets and harnesses before heading to the launch point.

The Mishima Skywalk zipline goes back and forth twice

Unlike the Forest Adventure IYA VALLEY, here two people can ride together if they come as a pair. For safety reasons, riders weighing over 80 kg have an extra heart-shaped pulley attached to reduce the load on a single line.

↑ When approaching the landing area, some riders face forward while most end up going backward. If you face forward, you have to keep running after landing; if backward, you should lift your feet up to avoid injury.

Mishima Skywalk also offers forest adventure activities

After finishing the zipline, we explored other paid forest adventure activities available at Mishima Skywalk. Since the weather was so hot, we decided to cool down with some ice cream.

The sky-blue ice cream was delicious. We then walked back toward the ticket counter, leaving around 5:00 p.m. Overall, it was a great experience, though the summer heat was intense. Much respect to the elderly staff members who stood on the bridge all day ensuring everyone’s safety.
