After arriving at Asahikawa Airport on a JAL domestic flight, we began our Hokkaido self-drive trip. After picking up the rental car at ORIX Rent-a-Car Asahikawa Ekimae, our first destination was Ningle Terrace. Before going there, we stopped by our hotel (ハイランドふらの ) to check in, but we didn’t bring in our luggage yet. We also registered our preferred dinner time.

We drove to the parking lot in front of the New Furano Prince Hotel, which is near Ningle Terrace. After parking the car, we first went into the New Furano Prince Hotel to use the restroom, then headed to the entrance of Ningle Terrace.
↑ Suddenly, we saw an orange cat near the parking lot. It had been a long time since we had seen a cat in Japan, and we noticed that its eyes were a light yellow color, different from the ones we usually see.

In June, Ningle Terrace feels like a fairy-tale village. Even though it was already evening, the lights were on, creating a charming and almost Christmas-like atmosphere.

Each small cabin has its own unique theme, offering various local handicrafts. Many shops do not allow photography, so we only took photos where it was allowed.

The air here is incredibly fresh—it’s been a long time since we breathed such clean air. You can walk around the entire terrace following the forest paths, browsing and buying handmade crafts. Every little craft shop is enjoyable to explore.
