On the last night of our 10-day self-driving trip around Shikoku, we had dinner at MAISHOKUYA( Kagawa no Shokudo Maishokuya in Hyogocho), which is located near the Toyoko Inn Hyogocho hotel. Why didn’t we go to Takamatsu Airport? Because that afternoon, our phones suddenly received a notification that our China Airlines flight had been rescheduled to two days later. Our original plan was completely disrupted, and we had to quickly find a hotel to stay in. So, we ended up staying two more nights at the familiar Toyoko Inn Hyogocho.
At that time, we didn’t know how much travel insurance would cover, and we didn’t want to drag our heavy luggage around. Thankfully, the hotel staff arranged a room for us on the 3rd floor so we could wait out the typhoon—since the China Airlines flight never arrived at Takamatsu Airport.
In the afternoon, we continued shopping, and in the evening, we finally dined at MAISHOKUYA(Kagawa no Shokudo Maishokuya in Hyogocho). We had always wanted to try it whenever we passed by, and this time we finally had the chance. After climbing up to the 2nd floor, we used a tablet to place our order. Although the menu was entirely in Japanese, we managed with the help of a translation app and ordered:
- Grilled pork set meal with special sauce (thick-cut meat) × 1
- Domestic pork cutlet set meal × 2
Total: 3,270 yen (tax included)
First came the grilled pork set with special sauce and thick-cut meat. The rice was delicious and went perfectly with the pork. There was also a salad on the side, and you could drizzle dressing from the bottle on the table.
The domestic pork cutlet set came with large portions of tonkatsu—very satisfying and tasty, especially when eaten with the rice.
After the meal, we noticed a sign upstairs introducing the local miso from Kagawa Prefecture, which is apparently quite famous. After paying, we took a photo of the restaurant’s exterior. There’s something about this place that just draws you in. Next time we come to Takamatsu, we’ll definitely come back for their domestic pork cutlet set meal.
