Returning to Tokyo, I stayed at Hotel Sunroute Asakusa in a Triple Room with a view of Tokyo Skytree

Our 12-day self-drive journey through Hakone, Lake Kawaguchi, and Hokkaido was coming to an end. After flying back to Tokyo from Hokkaido on Japan Airlines, we checked in for a two-night stay at Hotel Sunroute Asakusa.

Since this was our first visit to Tokyo after the pandemic, it had been several years since we last stayed here. Before the pandemic, our family had already stayed at this hotel several times, so it felt familiar and nostalgic to return.

After arriving back in Asakusa, Tokyo, we checked in and carried our luggage up to the room. The layout of the room had changed slightly, and it looked like the hotel had undergone some renovations. This time, we stayed in a Triple Room(Main Building) with a Tokyo Skytree View. The three of us each had our own single bed, which made sleeping much more comfortable without disturbing one another.

Our room was located on the 5th floor, and we could see Tokyo Skytree from the window. I remember that on previous visits, we stayed on the 3rd floor once and on the 7th floor another time. The triple rooms all seem to be arranged in similar locations within the hotel.

After putting our luggage away, we went to dinner near Daimon Station and enjoyed a thick-cut pork loin cutlet set at Iwai Tonkatsu. Later that evening, we headed out to see Tokyo Tower.

While waiting for my family on the first floor of the hotel, I noticed that complimentary draft beer was available from 16:00 to 19:00. I asked the front desk for a glass and poured myself some Asahi beer. Surprisingly, it tasted incredibly good — smooth and without the bitterness I usually associate with beer. I think it was the first time I had such a delicious beer in Japan.

Before leaving the hotel for dinner, I ended up enjoying two glasses of Asahi beer. Since we would not be driving during the final three days of our trip, I could finally relax and enjoy a drink.

Before heading out for dinner, I took some photos of the Hotel Sunroute Asakusa lobby. The space looked quite different from before. In the past, there were complimentary laptops available for guests to use, but now the area has been transformed into a spacious lounge with large comfortable sofas.

After visiting Tokyo Tower at night, we returned to the hotel to rest. I took another photo in front of Hotel Sunroute Asakusa. The entrance looked almost the same as I remembered — a familiar hotel that brought back many memories.
