Day 5 of our Hokkaido self-driving trip: Staying at Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Asahikawa-eki Higashi-guchi

After enjoying a delicious grilled lamb dinner at the Gochome branch of Genghis Khan Daikokuya in Asahikawa, we walked back toward Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Asahikawa Station Higashi-guchi , where we would be staying for the night.

Since our family would be taking a Japan Airlines (JAL) flight back to Tokyo the following afternoon, we decided to take a leisurely walk after dinner, browse the nearby shopping center and explore Asahikawa Station to help digest our meal.

These photos were taken in the afternoon after checking in at Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Asahikawa Station East Exit, just before we left the hotel to go out for dinner. They show the exterior of the hotel and the hallway leading to our room.

↑ Before returning to the hotel, we stopped by AEON Mall Asahikawa Ekimae for a quick visit. There was a pet shop with display windows featuring puppies and kittens. Two puppies were playing together, and they were incredibly adorable.

Toyoko Inn Hokkaido Asahikawa-eki Higashi-guchi is not far from JR Asahikawa Station

By the time we finished dinner, it was already nighttime. JR Asahikawa Station is quite large, so we took some time to explore the station and stamped our commemorative station seal before heading back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

The next morning, there were too many guests downstairs in the breakfast area. Since our family prefers a quieter and less crowded environment, we decided to bring our breakfast back to our room.

One of the breakfast specialties was seaweed rice balls (onigiri) with different flavors available. Our family loves salmon, so we chose two salmon rice balls.

I personally prefer a Western-style breakfast, so I also took some bread with jam, sliced apples, and a bowl of soup. It was quite nice to enjoy breakfast in the comfort of our room.

After breakfast, we continued with the final day of our journey in Hokkaido.
