Take the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway at Lake Kawaguchi to Tenjoyama Park to enjoy the view

After leaving the very crowded Oishi Park at Lake Kawaguchi, our family headed to the nearby Tenjoyama Park. It took about 10 minutes by car to reach the parking lot by the lakeside, where we planned to take the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway.

To board the ropeway, you need to walk up a short staircase of about three stories from the parking lot to the ticket counter. There’s a large “Lake Kawaguchi” landmark sign here, and next to the ticket booth, a big map board shows the attractions and walking routes of Tenjoyama Park.

After buying our tickets, we took the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway up the mountain, and in just about 2 minutes and 30 seconds, we arrived at the Fujimidai Station.

The scenery at Tenjoyama Park

Near the Fujimidai Station, there are several attractions such as the “Bell of Tenjo,” raccoon and rabbit statues, and other displays. Although the sky was cloudy, it wasn’t too hot.

The most beautiful spot is the staircase right outside the station, leading toward the popular viewing area — it offers one of the best views of Lake Kawaguchi.

The roller coaster tracks at Fuji-Q Highland are very long

From there, we could also see Fuji-Q Highland amusement park in the distance. We’ve wanted to visit it for years but never had the chance — it was surprising to see how long the roller coaster tracks looked from up here.

Watching other people play on the swing at Tenjosan Park

The most famous attraction at Tenjoyama Park is the swing, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Mt. Fuji as you swing. Unfortunately, the clouds were too thick that day, so we could only see about two-thirds of the mountain. Our family climbed to the highest spot — the “Scenic View Observatory.” From there, you can scan a QR code to take an automatic photo, but after trying for a while, we realized it might require a paid service, so we skipped it. Since Mt. Fuji was covered in clouds anyway, we decided to save that for next time.

Enjoying the view of Mount Fuji at Tenjosan Park and getting ready to go down

After spending about 30 minutes there, we decided to take the ropeway back down the mountain. On the way down, we filmed a short video, and midway, our ropeway car passed another one coming up from below.
