After spending the final few days of our 12-day self-guided road trip through Hakone, Lake Kawaguchi, and Hokkaido walking around and exploring Tokyo, it was finally time to leave Japan. On the morning of our departure, after packing our luggage, our family left the hotel and headed to HARBS Ueno for breakfast.
HARBS Ueno is located on the 2nd floor of PARCO_ya Ueno, a large shopping complex. PARCO_ya opens at 10:00 a.m., so as soon as the doors opened, we headed straight up to the 2nd floor to HARBS Ueno

Queuing at HARBS Ueno early in the morning for breakfast
We didn’t expect to see people already lining up outside the restaurant. After going inside, we could already see several tables occupied by customers. Looking at the various cakes displayed in the refrigerated showcase, they all looked beautiful and incredibly delicious.

The interior and ice water at HARBS Ueno
The interior of HARBS Ueno is elegant and beautifully designed, making it a lovely place for family and friends to chat while enjoying desserts. After having some ice water, we were ready to place our order.

HARBS Ueno’s Fruit Mille Crepe
HARBS Ueno’s Fruit Mille Crêpe is one of the signature desserts and definitely a must-order. It was delicious, refreshing, and not overly sweet. The cake is made with six layers of extremely thin French-style crêpes, layered with light and refreshing whipped cream and custard cream, along with an abundance of fresh seasonal fruits such as bananas, kiwifruit, and melon.

HARBS Ueno’s Iced Apple Tea and Blueberry Cheesecake Tart
We also ordered iced apple tea and a blueberry cheesecake tart. The apple tea was served with a glass filled with specially prepared fruit-tea ice cubes, along with a whole bottle of crystal-clear apple tea for us to pour into the glass ourselves. Two small white pitchers were placed beside it, containing maple syrup and milk, which could be added to adjust the sweetness and flavor to our liking.

HARBS Ueno’s White Peach Fresh Cheesecake
HARBS Ueno’s White Peach Fresh Cheesecake was also absolutely delicious. The top was decorated with pieces of half a fresh white peach. The base was an incredibly smooth and creamy fresh cheesecake with a mousse-like texture, while finely chopped pieces of white peach were layered inside.
After finishing our desserts and paying the bill, we took one last photo of the cake in the refrigerated display case near the entrance before leaving the restaurant.
