After spending the whole afternoon at the Shikoku Aquarium, we were about to head back to our hotel. It started to rain in the evening, and while walking toward Utazu Station, we came across Hinoya Curry Utazu (日乃屋カレー 宇多津店). It had been a while since we last had curry rice, so we decided to give it a try and see how it tasted.
Each of us ordered a dish, and every portion was quite large. The curry had a slightly dark color. I had the braised beef tendon curry rice (牛スジ煮込みカレー), which tasted pretty good. There was a generous amount of beef, and it was quite flavorful.
This is the signature pork cutlet curry rice (名物カツカレー), which comes with a sliced pork cutlet on top, covered in curry. It’s one of their specialties and was also served in a large portion.
This one is the hamburger steak curry rice (肉屋のハンバーグカレー), which my family member had. I didn’t get to try it, but the pork hamburger patty looked big and filling. In the end, we were probably all too hungry—everything was gone in no time.
The total bill was:
-
Signature Pork Cutlet Curry (名物カツカレー): ¥920 (before tax)
-
Hamburger Steak Curry (肉屋のハンバーグカレー): ¥920 (before tax)
-
Braised Beef Tendon Curry (牛スジ煮込みカレー): ¥1020 (before tax)
After the meal, we took a photo of the restaurant’s exterior. While writing this post, I found out that Hinoya Curry Utazu had unfortunately closed down after September 2024. What a pity. Hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy delicious Hinoya Curry again next time we visit Japan.
