10 Days and 9 Nights Shikoku Self-Drive Free Trip
Night 2: Dinner at Iyo Banri – Kawanoe Main Branch, followed by a stay at HOTEL ROUTE-INN SHIKOKU CHUO
On the second evening, we dined at Iyo Banri – Kawanoe Main Branch and enjoyed their famous ‘giant fried chicken leg’. Afterward, we headed to our accommodation, the nearby HOTEL ROUTE-INN SHIKOKU CHUO, also known in Japanese as ホテルルートイン四国中央-三島川之江インター.
It was already quite late after dinner, and we worried that the hotel’s parking lot might be full, leaving us to park elsewhere. Fortunately, when we arrived, there were still one or two spaces available. After parking, we unloaded our luggage and checked in. Our room was on the 8th floor.
For our family of three, we booked one single room and one twin room. The single room was fairly spacious, with enough room to open luggage comfortably. It even had a sofa, a small table, and a stool—perfect for setting up a laptop to get some work done.
The twin room featured two separate single beds, ensuring a good night’s sleep without disturbing each other when turning over or pulling the blanket. From the 8th-floor window, we could see the parking lot and easily spot where we had parked.
The next morning, we opened the curtains to a view of chimneys in the distance, with the sea visible even farther out. A nearby road seemed to lead directly to the shore. The city’s planning appeared quite convenient and efficient.
The breakfast at HOTEL ROUTE-INN SHIKOKU CHUO was satisfying. It included staples like bacon, salmon, scrambled eggs, and tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet). The bread was also delicious.
The hotel provided us with three tokens to use in vending machines for drinks of our choice. This reminded us of a pre-pandemic trip to Tsuruga, where we stayed at HOTEL ROUTE-INN Tsuruga Ekimae and received similar tokens. After using the tokens, we noticed a stamp station in the lobby featuring a cute mascot— a sheep driving a car.
Since it was too late to take photos during check-in the previous night, we took pictures in the bright and well-lit lobby after breakfast. We also enjoyed coffee from the machine here the previous night, bringing two cups back to our room—quite good!
If we have the chance, we’d love to stay at a HOTEL ROUTE-INN again.
